OPEN SPACE COMMISSION MEETING
Official Minutes
I. CALL TO ORDER
A. ACTION-Vice Chairman Tomter called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm
Commissioner Steve Wilkinson
Commissioner Mike Uihlein
Commissioner Marjie Tomter
Town Scientist Brian Lennie
Town Clerk Jessica Schmidt
B. Absent: Chairman Jon Rauser, Commissioner Don Korinek, Commissioner Shawn Graff,
Commissioner Dorothy Boyer
C. There is no quorum, so no action will be taken at this meeting.

IV. REVIEW & APPROVE MINUTES
A. Minutes from September 24, 2007 meeting

V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Revised letter to Town residents to be included with the annual newsletter
1. Liz Wessel is finalizing the letter to Town residents and will have all copies made and
submitted to Town Clerk for distribution with tax bills.
2. Discussion took place regarding the location of the two possible canoe launches and
existing access easements. Two possibilities for locations are the Brat’s woods and
the Webco property.
3. ACTION- No action taken
VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Establish a 5 year project timeline
1. Commissioner Wilkinson suggested that we refer to the canoe launch as a canoe
and kayak launch. Scientist Lennie suggested calling the launches non -motorized
boat launches.
2. Commissioner Wilkinson pointed out that possible linkage to the multi-use trail could
make the launches more accessible and add more possibilities for resident access.
3. Commissioners discussed the logo or signage that should be used consistently to
identify the Town of Grafton Open Space property. Vice Chairman Tomter stated
that these signs would make great navigational markers while on the river.
4. Vice Chairman Tomter suggested that the Open Space Commission make contact
with residents along the possible sites to inform them of the goals of the Commission.
5. Commissioner Wilkinson suggested that we add to a future agenda a discussion with
the Village of Grafton to cover our CORP plan.
6. ACTION-No action taken
B. Establish dollar amounts that will be needed for future projects
1. Scientist Lennie explained that the next available grant is the Stewardship grant.
2. ACTION-No action taken
VII. RESIDENT CORRESPONDENCE/PERSONS WISHING TO BE HEARD
A. None
VIII. TOWN STAFF UPDATES
A. Scientist Lennie discussed that the CORP plan will be going on the Town of Grafton
website.
B. Scientist Lennie presented a draft of the Coastal Management Grant application.
