OPEN SPACE COMMISSION MEETING
November 22, 2010
I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Chairperson Tomter called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
B. Present:
Chairperson Marjie Tomter
Commissioner Steve Wilkinson
Commissioner Dorothy Boyer Commissioner Shawn Graff Commissioner Mike Uihlein
Scientist Brian Lennie

1. Absent: Commissioner Don Korinek
II. OLD BUSINESS
A. Update on VK parcel opportunities
1. Chairperson Tomter explained that the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust interest is high on the County agenda for the January meeting.
B. Update on funding opportunities
1. Commissioner Graff will provide an update at the December meeting.
C. Budget and project planning for 2011
1. Scientist Lennie presented a 2011 budget and 5 year plan for the Open Space Commission.
2. Commissioners removed the line item for the annual mailing.
3. Action-Commissioner Uihlein moved to approve the budget and 5 year plan as amended, seconded by Commissioner Wilkinson. Motion carried 5-0
D. Presentation of final version of resident letter to be included with tax bills
1. Discussion only, no action was taken
E. Traffic Barrier at the non-motorized boat launch
1. Commissioners discussed options for the barrier such as boulders , curb stops, posts, bollards, tires, split rail fences.
2. Action-Commissioner Tomter moved to request the board install orange snow fence for the winter, seconded by Commissioner Uihlein. Motion carried 5-0
III. NEW BUSINESS-NONE
IV. RESIDENT CORRESPONDENCE/PERSONS WISHING TO BE HEARD
1. A member of the Willow Hill Riding Club addressed the Commission regarding working together on the Multi-use trail.
V. TOWN STAFF UPDATES
1. Advertisement language for maintenance of the non-motorized boat launch site/multi-use trail will be discussed at the January 3rd meeting
2. “Bird City” tree city designation will be discussed at the January 3rd meeting
3. PACE meeting will be discussed at the February meeting
4. Discussion of Plan Commission having a conservancy overlay district for Ozaukee Washington Land Trust sites will be discussed at the February meeting
VI. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS DEEMED PERTINENT AS ALLOWED BY LAW
1. The December 27th Open Space Meeting has been rescheduled for January 3rd. The regularly scheduled January meeting will be held on January 31st.
