TOWN OF GRAFTON
OPEN SPACE COMMISSION MEETING
March 29, 2010
I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Chairperson Tomter called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
B. Present:
Commissioner Marjie Tomter, Acting Chairperson
Commissioner Steve Wilkinson
Commissioner Dorothy Boyer Commissioner Mike Uihlein arrived at 7:04 pm Commissioner Don Korinek
Scientist Brian Lennie
Clerk Jessica Schmidt
Absent: Shawn Graff, Jon Rauser
II. ADOPTION OF AGENDA
1. Clerk Schmidt noted that the minutes to be approved at tonight’s meeting should read January and February 2010, not February and March 2010
2. ACTION-Commissioner Tomter moved to adopt the agenda as amended, seconded by Commissioner Korinek. Motion carried 4-0
III. REVIEW & APPROVE MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
1. ACTION-Commissioner Wilkinson moved to approve the January 2010 minutes as presented, seconded by Commissioner Boyer. Motion carried 4-0
2. Commissioner Uihlein took his seat at 7:04 pm.
3. Commissioner Tomter stated that in the February 2010 minutes, Dr. Mauer’s name is spelled Maurer and should be corrected.
4. ACTION-Commissioner Tomter moved to approve the February 2010 minutes as amended, seconded by Commissioner Uihlein. Motion carried 5-0
IV. OLD BUSINESS
A. Multi-use trail update
1. Scientist Lennie informed the Commission that the Tesker’s are not interested in granting the Town an easement for the Multi-use trail at this time.
2. ACTION-Commissioner Wilkinson moved to direct staff to work with the DNR to show alternate arrangements for the Multi-use trail and make use of grant funds, seconded by Commissioner Tomter. Motion carried 5-0
V. NEW BUSINESS
A. North Canoe Launch bid award recommendation
1. ACTION-Commissioner Korinek moved to recommend the Board of Supervisors award the bid to Henry R. Marohl for the construction of the non-motorized boat launch, seconded by Commissioner Uihlein. Motion carried 5-0
VI. RESIDENT CORRESPONDENCE/PERSONS WISHING TO BE HEARD
VII. TOWN STAFF UPDATES
1. Canoe launch signage options should be discussed at a future meeting
2. The Town of Grafton has adopted the “community” of Grafton logo-Quality life naturally.
VIII. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS DEEMED PERTINENT AS ALLOWED BY LAW
1. None
IX. ADJOURN
1. ACTION-Commissioner Korinek moved to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Wilkinson. Motion carried 5-0
