OPEN SPACE COMMISSION MEETING

I. CALL TO ORDER

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE
III. ADOPTION OF AGENDA
1. ACTION-Commissioner Wilkinson moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by
Commissioner Tomter, motion carried.
IV. REVIEW & APPROVE MINUTES
1. ACTION-Commissioner Wilkinson moved to approve the June 2, 2008 minutes,
seconded by Chairperson Rauser, motion carried.
2. ACTION-Commissioner Wilkinson moved to approve the April 28, 2008
minutes, seconded by chairperson Rauser, motion carried.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Final version of the fundraising verbiage to be included with the informational packet handed
out by the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust
1. ACTION-Commissioner Graff moved to adopt the amended verbiage for the
Property Protection Report, seconded by Commissioner Tomter, motion
carried.
2. Commissioner Tomter asked if the signage for the horse trail was investigated to
determine how many were ordered and paid for. Clerk Schmidt will continue to
investigate and will have an answer for the Commission at the next meeting.
3. Commissioner Tomter stated that discussion of a possible easement from Karrin
Manley should be added to the next agenda. Commissioner Graff will meet with Ms.
Manley to discuss details.
4. Commissioner Tomter asked Clerk Schmidt if the verbiage pertaining to horseback
riding in the parks was changed in the codification process. Clerk Schmidt verified
that the verbiage was amended prior to adoption.
5. Scientist Lennie explaned that there are 3 possibilities for the proposed canoe
launch; The Open Space Commission should recommend the Plan Commission to
authorize the Town Engineer to facilitate the installation of the non-motorized boat
launch contingent upon receiving the grant.
ACTION-Commissioner Wilkinson moved to recommend the Plan Commission
authorize the Town Engineer to facilitate the installation of the non-motorized
boat launch - at the northern most of the three identified suitable sites if
possible - contingent upon receiving the grant, seconded by Commissioner
Graff, motion carried.

VIII. TOWN STAFF UPDATES
1. Scientist Lennie informed the Commission that the Town’s Application for the Non-
motorized Boat Launch Grant had been ranked 3rd out of all other DNR Grant
applicants. The Town should be receiving the final approval letter in the next month.
IX. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS DEEMED PERTINENT AS ALLOWED BY LAW
1. Commissioners requested that a treasurer’s report be given at the August meeting to
verify the funding in the Open space accounts. Clerk Schmidt will gather the
appropriate information.
X. ADJOURN
1. ACTION-Commissioner Korinek moved to adjourn, seconded by
Commissioner Tomter. Motion carried.
