BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING
January 9, 2008
Official Minutes
I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Chairman Bartel called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
B. Present:
Chairman Lester A. Bartel, Jr.
Supervisor Tim Kaul
Supervisor Paul Helms
Supervisor Nancy Rogers
Supervisor Tom Grabow
Town Clerk Jessica Schmidt
Town Engineer Kristen Lundeen
Town Treasurer Janice Strachota
ABSENT:
II. ASSURANCE OF PROPER NOTICE
Town Clerk Jessica Schmidt assured the meeting that the Agenda was properly noticed.
III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG
IV. ADOPTION OF AGENDA
A. ACTION: Supervisor Grabow moved to accept Agenda, seconded by Supervisor
Kaul. Motion carried unanimously.
V. REVIEW & APPROVE MINUTES
A. ACTION: Supervisor Kaul moved to accept the minutes of the December 12, 2007
meeting, seconded by Supervisor Rogers. Motion carried unanimously.
VI. PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. Pleasant Valley Speed Limit Reduction from 45 mph to 35 mph to correlate with the Village
of Grafton Municipal Code.
1. ACTION – Chairman Bartel opened the public hearing at 7:08 PM.
2. Mr. Gene Schmidt, 1252 Westwood Drive, clarified that this is the area located in the
Town of Grafton, not Cedarburg.
3. Mr. Jim Hoffman of Pleasant Valley Road supported this change as the area is quite
hilly.
4. ACTION – Chairman Bartel closed the public hearing at 7:09 PM.
5. ACTION – Supervisor Grabow moved to reduce the speed limit on Pleasant
Valley Road to 35 mph, seconded by Supervisor Rogers. Motion carried 5-0.
VII. OLD BUSINESS
A. Urban Nonpoint Grant Award
1. Action – Supervisor Rogers moved to approve, seconded by Supervisor
Grabow. Motion carried 5-0.

B. Fire Protection and Ambulance Services Agreement – 1 year contract renewal
1. Action – Supervisor Helms moved to approve the one year contract renewal,
seconded by Supervisor Kaul. Motion carried 5-0.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
A. Hoffmann Industries-update on driveway and landscaping plan
1. No action taken.
IX. RESIDENT CORRESPONDENCE/PERSONS WISHING TO BE HEARD

A. Mr. Steve Wilkinson requested the Board consider passing a resolution to support the State
of Wisconsin’s proposed Great Lakes Compact.
X. TOWN ENGINEER UPDATE
A. Stormwater Management Update
1. No action taken
XI. APPOINTMENTS OF COMMITTEES
A. ACTION – Supervisor Grabow moved to appoint Mr. Craig Butler as a permanent Plan
Commissioner to fill the vacant seat, seconded by Supervisor Helms. Motion carried
5-0.
XII. REPORTS – FOR INFORMATION, DISCUSSION AND ACTION

XIII. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS DEEMED PERTINENT AS ALLOWED BY LAW.
A. ACTION – Supervisor Grabow moved to increase the Clerk’s salary to $32,000
annually and office staff to $14.00 per hour to be effective January 1, 2008; seconded
by Supervisor Rogers. Motion passed 5-0.
XIV. ADJOURN
A. Action – Motion made by Supervisor Grabow to adjourn, seconded by Supervisor
Kaul. Motion carried 5-0.
