OPEN SPACE COMMISSION MEETING
Official Minutes
I. CALL TO ORDER

III. ADOPTION OF AGENDA
1. ACTION – Commissioner Wilkinson moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by Commissioner Tomter. Motion carried
I. REVIEW & APPROVE MINUTES
1. Commissioner Wilkinson pointed out a few typographical errors.
2. ACTION – Commissioner Wilkinson moved to approve the minutes as amended, seconded by Chairperson Rauser. Motion carried
II. OLD BUSINESS
A. Update on the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program and non-motorized boat launch
1. Scientist Lennie explained options for grant applications. There were 6 general categories, Non-point Source Pollution Control, Coastal Land Acquisition, Great Lakes Education, Land Use and Community Planning, Wetland Protection and Habitat Protection, Public Access and Historic Preservation.
2. The deadline to apply for a grant is November 2nd.
3. The Commission must decide what project should be pursued next: locating and constructing a 2nd non-motorized boat launch, obtaining an easement for the multi-use trail, purchasing land for the multi-use trail.
4. ACTION – Commissioner Tomter moved to direct staff to contact a Coastal Management Representative to attend the next meeting to discuss other projects in the Town, seconded by Chairman Rauser. Motion carried
5. Commissioner Wilkinson asked the status of the DNR Grant. The Town will receive the grant, but a meeting with the DNR is scheduled to clarify concerns of parking at the boat launch site.
6. The Commission discussed the locations of the of the non-motorized boat launch.
III. NEW BUSINESS
A. Easement possibilitiy on the Karin Manley property
1. Karin Manley requested that the possible easement go along the perimiter of her property and not bisect it.
2. The Commission and Ms. Manley reviewed the map of the current multi-use trail and the preferred alignment of the trail.
3. ACTION – No action taken
IV. RESIDENT CORRESPONDENCE/PERSONS WISHING TO BE HEARD
1. None




V. TOWN STAFF UPDATES
1. Clerk Schmidt gave aTreasurers report to include the balance of the Open Space Account
2. Clerk Schmidt gave an update on horse trail signage-the Town paid for and installed 3 signs. Commissioner Tomter stated that the sign placed by the Lions Den is missing.
3. Clerk Schmidt informed the Commission that she will be meeting with Sandra Dempsey to discuss potential easements on her proprty for the multi-use trail.
VI. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS DEEMED PERTINENT AS ALLOWED BY LAW

1. ACTION – Commissioner Tomter moved to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Wilkinson. Motion carried
